I was 51, bloated, moody, and overweight. My skin was breaking out and my digestion was suffering. Diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome and sent home with pills, I was so disheartened that this was now my life.
I couldn’t help but wonder if there was another way. That’s how my journey into a plant based lifestyle began.
Before long, I was watching every health documentary I could find, which opened my eyes to the negative effects of animal products on the gut and our hormones. This led me to eliminate dairy from my diet virtually overnight.
Within weeks, my complexion had cleared up and the bloating was gone. It was clear to me that I was on the right path, so I decided to slowly eliminate more animal products from my diet and replace them with whole foods.
By 52, I was all in. I was so passionate about this new lifestyle, but I wanted to make sure that I was doing it in the healthiest way possible, so I became certified in vegan nutrition.
This solidified my belief in the healing power of plants and yet it felt like nobody knew about it. That’s why I decided to start Livin’ La Vida Plant Based so that I could share vegan nutrition information, delicious recipes, fitness tidbits and so much more.
At 55, I have more energy and have never felt better both physically and mentally. By following a plant based lifestyle, I feel stronger and can naturally maintain a healthy weight. I am also in the final stages of my Holistic Plant Based Nutrition certification.
It wasn’t until I became vegan that I reached a level of overall wellness that is effortless and consistent. Now I want to help others who are struggling with gut health and hormone imbalances to heal and thrive at any age.
